Maximize your score on the ACT English, Critical Reading, and Writing Test
Westside Tutoring & Testing Services’ intensive, one-on-one test prep program is designed to prepare you for the specific question types you will encounter on the ACT English, Critical Reading, and Writing test, and help you gain a competitive advantage!
The ACT English Test covers effective writing. The six elements are:
- Grammar and Usage
- Sentence Structure
We will work on developing your ability to pay attention to and recognize tense, voice, context, and chronology. Does a sentence flow and is it concise? Is it grammatically correct and properly punctuated?
The Critical Reading portion of the ACT test measures your reading comprehension. During the test, you will be asked to read several passages and then choose an answer from a set of multiple-choice questions.
For this, we will work on techniques to aid you in:
- paying close attention to context and chronology when reading
- identifying the exact phrase, word-for-word or paraphrased, that answers the question
- having an answer choice prepared prior to looking at the answer choices offered
The ACT Writing Test is a 30-minute essay in which you are given a writing prompt and asked to state your position on the prompt.
To master the ACT Writing section all you need to create is a solid first draft. ACT graders are not looking for the Great American Novel, they are looking for a fundamentally sound draft.
We will work on properly composing the opening paragraph, body, and conclusion of your essay.
In addition to arming you with the techniques needed for a maximum score on each section, the WTTS ACT English, Critical Reading, and Writing test prep program will give you tips on overcoming test anxiety, time management, and standardized test taking.
Whether this is your first time taking the ACT, or your fifth, our test prep program can help you rock your college entrance exam!
